The following assumes a 64bit computer

 Phase 1 – Install Centos 6.2 and prepare for Zimbra

  1. Install minimal Centos 6.2

  2. Create a folder called zimbra under the root directory

  3. Make sure that the server connects to a DNS server that resolves the Fully Qualified Domain Name of your server to it's IP address.

  4. Edit the /etc/hosts file and add the IP address and domain name of the server as per the following example: mail

 edit the vi /etc/sudoers file with the command "visudo" and put a “#” infront of the line that says “Defaults requiretty”, as follows”, and close vi with “:wq”

#defaults requiretty

Stop the postfix service and stop it from loading when the server boots wityh the followinf commands:


          service postfix stop

          chkconfig postfix off


do the same for the sendmail service if it is loaded

Yum install the following:


	yum install nc sudo libidn gmp libstdc++ perl sysstat sqlite -y


Phase 2 – Installing Zimbra 7.2

  1. copy zcs-7.2.0_GA_2669.RHEL6_64.20120410002025.tgz into the zimbra folder.

  2. Unzip the zcs-7.2.0_GA_2669.RHEL6_64.20120410002025.tgz file

  3. cd into the zcs-7.2.0_GA_2669.RHEL6_64.20120410002025 folder

  4. run the ./install --platform-override command to install.


Also run the following as the zimbra user

zmtlsctl mixed
zmcontrol stop
zmcontrol start
